G.C.D.G.A Congratulates You !
Recently Elvis was selected to play in the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championships held at La Costa – USA. Elvis acquitted himself extremely well against the best there is in junior golf on the world stage. After 4 rounds he finished second, one shot behind the winner, who incidentally, had a home course advantage. Congratulations Elvis.
But more, 2018 has been an outstanding year for junior golfer, Elvis Smylie, member of Southport Golf Club.
Earlier this year he represented QLD in the state of origin series against NSW where he won all of his matches.
He then went on to win the Tasmanian Junior Masters recording 14 under par.
In early September this year he finished second in the Gary Player classic.
He was a member of the victorious QLD State Junior team which won the Australian Championships, in doing so Elvis only lost one match.
He finished tied with three others in the QLD Boys amateur and came second as a consequence of a play off.
At a district level in our GCDGA Pennants playing in Div 1 for Southport he won all of his matches bar one, going down to Inia Logan from Emerald Lakes. He also won this year’s Burleigh Cup by 5 shots.
He captained our Inter-district junior team against BDGA earlier this year, recording a win for his team in this event.
Elvis is our district representative at the Greg Norman Junior Masters currently being played at Palmer Colonial and Palmer Gold Coast courses. We wish him well, with the final round to be played this Thursday morning. Good luck Elvis.
It must be said that Elvis is an excellent role model for junior golf in our district, a wonderful ambassador for his club, and doubtless his parents, Peter and Liz, must be very proud of what he has achieved so far.
