CLUB BUSINESS ANNOUNCEMENT

Golf Queensland Member and Child Protection Workshop for Affiliated Clubs & personnel, follow the links below and contact phone numbers for more information.  Take this opportunity to be compliant and be pro active in Child Protection at your club.

Upcoming workshop – Ideally, the club personnel we’d like to attend are Secretaries, Junior Coordinators and PGA Golf Professionals but, of course, the workshop welcomes any interested committee members and engaged volunteers. The workshop will deliver important information that all clubs need to receive and will give the opportunity to voice and discuss any current concerns.

Member and Child Protection

Dear Clubs,

Recently, information was presented to your clubs Junior Coordinators at the District Junior Coordinators meeting on the subject of compliance requirements for looking after junior golfers.

Some of you will be fully aware of the child protection requirements of Golf Clubs, and for others, this will be the first introduction. The most common question asked is, why are we doing this? Firstly,

to protect kids engaging in golf and to protect people who interact with kids in golf, and secondly, because it is a legal requirement.

We’re all familiar with Blue Cards and we all understand that individuals interacting with juniors need to have one. Child and Member Protection and a strategy for managing risks is the other half of the coin that Clubs, businesses and organisations delivering junior golf must have.

We’re very much aware of the time constraints placed on volunteers, and we understand that an increased expectation can add pressure on volunteers’ time, which is why we’ll be supporting you the whole way through the process.

Our aim is to make it as easy and smooth as possible for Clubs to be compliant. As the conduits to successful junior participation, Golf Queensland is committed to supporting you with the tools and resources necessary for your own organisations and to enable you to advocate and steer your clubs to their compliance.

Our first commitment is to deliver a workshop in your District on the ins and outs of managing the risks associated with junior participation. The attached link will take you to the information on the workshop in your area and how to register.
