Golf Australia
Queensland Government Announcement – 1st of April 2021

As you are aware, COVID-19 or the Coronavirus as it is more commonly known has created global health concerns regarding the disease and its infection rates.

Golf Australia is writing to provide further assistance and guidance to our clubs and facilities on this important topic.

Queensland Government Announcement – 1st of April 2021

The Queensland government has announced that from 12pm (midday) AEST Thursday 1 April 2021 to Thursday 15 April 2021, restrictions will ease in greater Brisbane. All of Queensland will be subject to the same restrictions.

Playing Golf

Golf can played under the same restrictions that were in place prior to the Brisbane 3-Day Lockdown which is in line with the Industry COVID Safe Plan for Outdoor Team Sports. This includes;

  • play in groups of four
  • hold shotgun & multi-tee starts
  • have two people per cart – The Queensland Government strongly recommends you wear a mask when outdoors if you are unable to stay more than 1.5m distance from other people, as such it is recommended that face mask are worn if you are sharing a motorised Golf Cart.
  • Shared equipment restrictions remain. Golf Australia’s recommendation is for Clubs and facilities to continue the use of these Covid-19 Local Rules as it the most adequate way to meet the Covid Safe Plans practices around hygiene and sanitisation of shared equipment under current restrictions. A facility may choose to allow the removal of flagsticks, rakes in bunkers, NTP’s and score cards, however, this shared equipment needs to be washed or wiped with antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based sanitiser prior to and after each use.
