2020 Coolangatta Tweed TWIN TOWNS AMATEUR OPEN CANCELLED

8.1.21 Coolangatta & Tweeds Heads Golf Club have cancelled the Twin Towns Open and GCDGA Championship – notification has been emailed from Nicole at CTHGC.

Email sent to players regarding reschedule of event. Please contact Nicole for further information.

Dear Player,

Hope you are well.

Unfortunately, we have been forced to cancel the Twin Towns Open following the large volume of rain receive over the last week in the Tweed Region.

The course had received over 450mm of rain prior to a further deluge of 100mm which fell on the course in last 24 hours, making a number of holes completely unplayable.

With the Bureau of Meteorology forecasting further rain on Saturday 19 December and safety concerns for staff and players on course plus the fact that we wouldn’t be able to present the course adequately for a Tournament of this significance, we had no choice but to cancel the event on Sunday 20 December 2020.

The event has been rescheduled to Sunday 10 January 2021, all players will remain entered in the event and the current draw will remain in place.

If you are unavailable to play on the rescheduled event date of Sunday 10 January 2021, please forward your request to withdraw from the tournament via email to nicole@cooltweedgolf.com.au

If you have further questions please feel free to contact me directly.

Kind regards,

Nicole James

Golf Australia Covid-19 Update

Golf Australia
November Update – Covid-19 for QLD Golf Clubs & Facilities

Golf Australia is writing to provide further assistance and guidance to Queensland Golf Clubs and facilities regarding complying with the Queensland easing of Covid-19 restrictions under Stage 5.

To view the Queensland Governments Stage 5 Changes to Restrictions please CLICK HERE

Shared Equipment
Although a number of restrictions have eased the requirements around shared equipment in the Covid Safe Plan – Outdoor Sports remain unchanged. As such Golf Australia’s recommendation is for Clubs to continue the use of these Covid-19 Local Rules as it the most adequate way to meet the Covid Safe Plans practices around hygiene and sanitisation of shared equipment under current restrictions. A facility may choose to allow the removal of flagsticks, rakes in bunkers, NTP’s and score cards, however, this shared equipment needs to be washed or wiped with antibacterial wipes or alcohol-based sanitiser prior to and after each use.

Water Bubblers/taps

If your Club/Facility is considering using Water Bubbler/Taps you should first complete a risk assessment based on where the water bubblers are located and the ability of the Club to keep the bubblers sanitized, like other high touch surfaces located on the golf course.

If the Clubs/Facility decides to use Water bubblers, consider the following steps:

  • Ensure you promote BYO and or purchased Water Bottles as the first option for hydrating on course.
  • When using water bubblers consider the following communication/signage to players:
    • Water fountains/bubblers should only be used to refill personal water bottles.
    • Sanitize your hands prior to and after use.
    • Allow the water to run for a few seconds.
    • Do not allow the water bottle to contact the water fountain head or bubbler.

Golf Australia Update – Regarding Covid-19 for QLD Golf Clubs & Facilities

Update – Regarding Covid-19 for QLD Golf Clubs & Facilities

Dear Queensland Golf Clubs and Facilities,

Golf Australia is writing to provide further assistance and guidance to Queensland Golf Clubs and facilities regarding complying with the Queensland Stage 4 easing of Covid-19 restrictions.

We remind all Queensland Golf Clubs and facilities to please continue to adhere to the following:

Since Queensland progressed to Stage 4 easing of Covid-19 restrictions we have had a number of enquiries around shared equipment (i.e. Flagsticks and bunker rakes).  Following review of the updated Covid-safe plan – Outdoor Sports and discussions with Queensland Government, Golf Australia’s recommendation is for Clubs to continue the use of these Covid-19 Local Rules as it the most adequate way to meet the Covid Safe Plans practices around hygiene and sanitisation of shared equipment under currect restrictions.

Where an event is outside of the scope or not solely covered by the Approved COVID Safe Plans for reasons such as but not limited to having larger than 500 people (indoor events) or 1000 people (outdoor events), read the Industry Framework for COVID Safe Events which provides guidance on organising Covid Safe Events.

Further information on the Covid-19 restrictions for sport, recreation and fitness activities can be found at Queensland Return to Play

GCDGA President – Thank you Neil

The Gold Coast District Golf Association would like to advise that our President Neil Steinhardt has resigned.  We wish to thank Neil for his major contributions to the association during his years of devoted service.

Neil has decided to resign from the G.C.D.G.A. to pursue future adventures both personally and professionally and we wish him every success.  We will all miss Neil but be assured he won’t disappear completely and the association will still be able to call on him for his valuable experience from time to time.

We would also like to thank Neil’s wife Helen for many sacrifices she has made for the district over many years to allow Neil to pursue his second passion which is Golf and carry out his many duties which enabled club members to enjoy the many competitions the district provide each year.

So, thank you Helen and Neil for your contribution to golf on the Gold Coast and we wish you much success in your future

UPDATE- REGARDING COVID-19 FOR QLD GOLF CLUBS AND FACILITIES

UPDATE- REGARDING COVID-19 FOR QLD GOLF CLUBS AND FACILITIES

Dear Queensland Golf Clubs and Facilities,

Golf Australia is writing to provide further assistance and guidance to Queensland Golf Clubs and facilities in response to the current COVID situation in South East Queensland.

To date Queensland Golf Clubs have done a fantastic job in providing a safe environment for our sport to be played, whilst recently there has been a number of new restrictions on gatherings in South East Queensland, the Chief Health Officer advises that at this stage, community sport can continue provided Industry Covid Safe Plans are adhered to.

We remind all Queensland Golf Clubs and facilities to please continue to adhere to the following:

  • Ensure you are operating and adhering to the Outdoor Sports COVID Safe Plan and that hygiene and sanitisation practices are implemented. Please Click Here to view Industry Covid-safe plan – Outdoor Sports
  • For further guidance on adherence to the Covid-Safe Plan Please Click Here to view Golf Australia Covid-19 Safe Plan Guidance- QLD
  • Continue promoting to your members and customers that if they are unwell, they should not participate or attend your Golf Club or facility.
  • Ensure the collection of ALL attendees contact details is occurring and can be provided to a public health official within the required 60 minutes of the request. Public Health Units across the State as well as Queensland Police have the ability to check-in and request information surrounding your club or association compliance any time.

Over the last couple of weeks, we have had an increase in enquiries from Golf Clubs and members from across Queensland around the continued use of Covid-19 Local Rules. It is Golf Australia’s recommendation to use these Covid-19 Local Rules as it the most adequate way to meet the Covid Safe Plans practices around hygiene and sanitisation.

Last week Golf Australia conducted the Men’s and Women’s Queensland Strokeplay and Amateur Championships on the Gold Coast, at these events the following local rules were in effect and we recommend Golf Clubs continue to use these local rules for all events:

  • A player may prefer their lie up to 1 scorecard length within a bunker. (Bunker rakes were removed from both venues)
  • The flagstick is to be left in the hole at all times.
  • A player must mark their own scorecard, with the marker to verbally attest their score. The scorecard must be signed by the player only.

Thank you to all players for competing in the Gold Coast District Golf Association Gold Coast Senior Men’s Amateur Championships.  During covid-19 it was very tenuous for a few months if we could be able to open registrations but once opened the response from you all was amazing and again our annual 3 day Championship was underway.  Catering wasn’t available to be in the event this year, as back when we released entry it wasn’t something we could confirm at any point, so the covid-19 version was created and we hope understood buy the reduced rate reflected in the entry fee for this year.
